I have worked with Richard on a couple of occasions and his work is always thorough and complete. He brings to the process of building and design an energy that is original and enthusiastic. About Richard Esteb – ADU Architect Specializing in Casita Design Plans and Remodels

For the last 20+ years ADU Architect Richard Esteb has been delighting homeowners and getting the best from subcontractors and tradespeople in the residential construction and remodeling arena.

His knack for creating innovative designs and inventive spaces is the result of his unique work experience.

“Architecture is a second career for me,” smiles Esteb. “The years I spent as a Journeyman Cabinetmaker before becoming an architect give me a deep appreciation for the importance of precision and meticulous detail. I use this discipline daily.  If I draw a detail, I know it can be built.”

In the early years, like other architects, Richard worked alongside other designers, architects and engineers. Today, his hands-on approach, personally conducting everything from client consultations to construction drawings, shortens design times, improves communication and reduces redesigns.

The happy result? Faster turnaround times and thrilled homeowners.

“Naturally, a remodel, home addition or kitchen upgrade is a big deal for homeowners,” continues Richard. “My objective is to make the process easy, even fun. I use a tested process to examine the “wants” and “needs” that make even the smallest project come to life long before a single workman shows up.”

Recently, there’s been a growing interest in Accessory Dwelling Units, backyard Casitas  or what are known as Granny Flats. These small attached or unattached living spaces create their own set of unique design challenges. They’ve become a specialty for Richard.

“Constraints, whether size, budget, location or timing is the foundation of creativity,” continues Esteb. “I think I do my best work when there are special circumstances, restrictions or limitations that must be accommodated.”

Richard Esteb currently resides in the Tucson area. As a long-time resident of California, he continues to work remotely for clients in Marin County and up and down the west coast.
