Garage Conversion to Art Studio

This garage conversion was included during the massive remodel and second story addition to this house. The house was designed for more living space for the owner-couple. She needed a work space to see clients, which was the new family room. He needed a painting studio.

The garage conversion was always intended to be his work space with some good high windows for natural lighting. It is still up to code as a garage so it satisfies the community standards for parking and having a covered space for a car. The real use, of course is for this well known painter. Who would know from the exterior?

As an ADU architect who also designs extensive remodels, this was a very enjoyable project where we could creatively design their dream home and ADU / art studio.
